Early Beats
Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, Connor McIlvaine, stage name "cmac," found his true calling in percussion. Initially resistant to piano lessons at seven, a pivotal shift occurred as he experimented with various instruments, ultimately discovering his passion behind the drum kit. This early exposure to diverse genres, from classic rock legends of the 80s and 90s to blues, funk, and hip hop laid the foundation for his versatile playing style.
The Current Groove
After spending several years gaining experience in performing and recording, McIlvaine moved to Nashville, TN to hone his craft at Belmont University, studying drum set performance, commercial music, and music business. His career quickly soared, working with over 50 local artists after his first two years in town. McIlvaine became a founding member of the supporting bands for country artist Carlisle Wright and American Idol performers Freddie McClendon and Slater Nalley. McIlvaine continues to work heavily with these three primary artists, as well as others in varying genres and styles.
